Many of us are familiar with the 30a areas of Seaside and Rosemary Beach, but if you are looking for those turquoise blue waters and white sand with a little less traffic, Blue Mountain Beach is for you. In this off the beaten path seaside village, some days you may find yourself one of the only people on the beach, even during summer. Named after the blue lupine flowers and home to some of the highest dunes along the coast, Blue Mountain Beach is one of my favorite beaches in the world because it offers tranquility which can sometimes be hard to find among the hustle and bustle of 30a.

As if the allure of relaxing beachside wasn’t enough, there are plenty of adventures to be had in Blue Mountain Beach.
Biking
One of the perks of staying at Blue Mountain Beach is it is easy to get around on bike without having to dodge tons of traffic. You may prefer to bring your own bikes, but most rentals offer bikes as well. Cruise up and down the back streets or have a family outing to Blue Mountain Creamery.

Rent a YOLO board for $30 an hour or $195 for the whole week. You can pick up the board at YOLO Board + Bike store at Gulf Place on 30a or have it delivered to you. All rentals come up leash, paddle, and Coast Guard Approved PDF. SUP boards are not near as hard as you might think and can be a fun adventure for the whole family. (Just remember paddling with the current is easy, paddling against the current…not so much.) An early morning YOLO adventure in summer will prove most exciting for anyone who loves nature as you are sure to see stingrays, schools of fish, blue crabs, and dolphins. You may also find live sand dollars, just remember if you see tiny hairs all over it or if it is dark in color it is a live animal and by Florida law should be returned to the ocean.

Where To Eat
My first and foremost recommendation on where to eat is grabbing some delicious freshly caught seafood at Goatfeahers and cooking at your place.

Get ready for oysters all day in all ways – champagne broiled, raw with ceviche, cheddar jalapeño, oyster shooters – you name it Stinky’s has it. Plus an array of other mouthwatering menu items that are sure to please the whole family.
Get a taste of where the locals hang out while enjoying great food and service. Enjoy ceviche, who dat shrimp, shrimp tacos, po boys, and more.
A thai pizza? Yes thats right enjoy a selection of pizzas at The Pickle Factory with their most famous named the Kee Mao aka Thai pizza. Also make sure to try the fried pickles with bits of fried garlic tossed in.
The cue offers just that – a beautiful waterfront view of those beautiful blue waves and white sand. The Vue on 30a offers a more refined dining experience, but perhaps the best meal offered is brunch. Serving up crawfish benedict, lobster roll, and fried oyster benedict – brunch paired with a Bloody Mary at The Vue is a must.

Right in the heart of Blue Mountain Beach is Formula Fresh Juice, a healthy option to begin your day on beautiful 30a. I like to start my day with one of their ‘be sunny’ carrot juice because drinking or eating carrots before and after sun exposure is good for your skin.
Where To Shop
If you want to shop, a short trip down 30a will lead you to some of my favorite stores.

There is a reason the majority of my child’s fall and spring wardrobes come from Gigi’s Fab Kids – they have the cutest most unique clothes and shoes. It is a joy to have my daughter actually get excited to try on clothes and Gigi’s offers a special experience for each child.
I still remember how excited I was when I first discovered Willow, their eye for style when it comes to clothing and jewelry is impeccable. With locations in Seaside and Rosemary Beach, Willow is a must for any style maven.
High end, yet simple, Alys Shoppe consistently scouts out unique designers to bring to 30a like Santa Rosa’s own Coastal Road Leather Goods and TryB212.
